DisasterShield overview

What DisasterShield does, what each screen is for, and what it does not do.

What it does

DisasterShield shows four disaster-risk scores, 「地震」, 「洪水」, 「土砂災害」 and 「総合」, for a point you specify by latitude and longitude. Each score is a value from 1 to 100, and a higher value means a higher risk. 「地震」 is derived from J-SHIS seismic hazard data, and 「洪水」 and 「土砂災害」 from the flood inundation zone and landslide warning zone data of the National Land Numerical Information (国土数値情報). 「総合」 combines the three scores with weights of 0.5 for seismic, 0.3 for flood and 0.2 for landslide. Below the four scores, 「スコア粒度(地震)」 shows the seismic intensity class, the 1km mesh and the 475-year return period behind the seismic score. In 「PML(予想最大損失率)を算定」 below the scores, enter 「建築年(西暦)」 and 「構造種別」 and click 「PML を算定」 to show the PML. PML is the loss, as a percentage of replacement cost, for an earthquake with a 475-year return period. Construction year and structure type are values you declare, and only the seismic intensity is taken from J-SHIS data. If you enter 「再調達価格(円・任意)」, the PML is also shown as an amount in yen.

Who it is for

It is for J-REITs, developers and lenders who want to check, as numbers, the seismic, flood and landslide risk and the PML of properties in Tokyo's 23 wards.

What it does not do

The data coverage that DisasterShield states is Tokyo's 23 wards. If there is no J-SHIS seismic hazard data within 1,500 m of the point, the screen shows 「この座標は現在のデータ提供範囲外です(東京23区)。」 instead of scores. Points are specified by latitude and longitude, and there is no way to look up a point from an address. The four scores are derived from the point's hazard data only and do not use the building's structure or construction year. The seismic score is a per-mesh value, so points within the same mesh get the same score. There is no batch assessment of multiple points, no portfolio-level assessment, no report generation and no export to a file. Scores and PML are reference information for investment decisions and do not replace insurance-rate calculation, seismic diagnosis or disaster prediction. The score screen, the dashboard and the sign-in-related screens are in Japanese, with no switch to English. Pricing and plans are not covered in this documentation.

Main screens

Screen URL What it does
Top page / 「デモを試す」 and 「ライブデモを試す」 lead to the score screen, and 「ダッシュボード(デモ)」 at the bottom of the page leads to the dashboard.
Score screen /try Enter 「緯度 (latitude)」 and 「経度 (longitude)」 and click 「スコア取得」 to show the four scores and the PML section.
Dashboard /dashboard Shows the 「サンプル物件・デモ用 (5)」 list, a map and the 「災害リスクスコア」 panel; clicking a property in the list or a point on the map shows the scores for that point.
Sign-in screen /signin Signing in. Opening the score screen or the dashboard while signed out takes you here.
Sign-up screen /signup Creating an account with an email address and password. Opened from 「新規登録」 on the sign-in screen.
Email verification screen /verify-email Resending the verification email and checking that verification is complete.
Password reset screen /forgot-password Sends a reset link by email. Opened from 「パスワードをお忘れですか?」 on the sign-in screen.

On the score screen and the dashboard, the signed-in email address and 「サインアウト」 are shown at the top right of the screen. Clicking 「サインアウト」 returns you to the sign-in screen. The email verification screen has no sign-out control.
