Live data vs sample data

Which panels show real data and which show sample values, and how to tell them apart from the labels on screen.

Overview

Some dashboard panels show real data fetched from upstream sources, and some show sample values kept in the repository. You can tell which from the label below each panel.

How the labels differ

Below a panel with real data, a line in the form 「出典: {source} / {year} / 単位: {unit}」 is shown. For data that has no year, the year part is left out. Below a panel with sample values, 「SAMPLE」 and 「サンプルデータ(暫定)— 実データではありません」 are shown. On the three indicators at the top of the dashboard, 「サンプルデータ(暫定)」 is shown when the value is a sample value.

Panels that switch with the fetch result

Population data (population, density, change, age structure) is real data when fetched from e-Stat, and sample values when it could not be fetched. Ridership per station is shown as real data only when it was fetched from ODPT. When it could not be fetched from ODPT, the station list stays, ridership becomes 「データなし」, and the panel's label changes to 「サンプルデータ(暫定)— 実データではありません」.

Panels that are always sample values

On the 「災害」 tab, 「災害種別」 and the risk list are always sample values. 「区別平均地価」, 「密度 vs 地価」, the land price column of the ward data table, 「人口推移(東京23区)」, 「乗降客数推移」, zoning and 「区別総合比較」 are always sample values. The ward colouring on the map uses fixed reference values, not real data.

The source section at the bottom of the page

At the bottom of the dashboard, what is on screen is listed in two groups: 「実データ」 and 「サンプルデータ(暫定)— 実データではありません」. When a fetch result changes, the population and station ridership items move to the other group.
